CESSDA Catalogue
The CESSDA Catalogue provides seamless access to datasets from social science data archives across Europe. Each of the member states (Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom) are represented by a national institution, a Service Provider, that is responsible for providing the relevant services.
CCS – The Comparative Candidates Survey
The Comparative Candidate Survey (CCS) is a joint multi-national project with the goal of collecting data on candidates running for national parliamentary elections in different countries using a common core questionnaire to allow for cross-country comparison. Data collection comprises surveys among candidates as well as relevant contextual information concerning the constituency of the candidate and the political system at large.
ICPSR (Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research) advances and expands social and behavioral research, acting as a global leader in data stewardship and providing rich data resources and responsive educational opportunities for present and future generations.
The European Social Survey (ESS) is an academically driven cross-national survey that has been conducted every two years across Europe since 2001. The survey measures the attitudes, beliefs and behaviour patterns of diverse populations in more than thirty nations.
ISSP - International Social Survey Programme
The ISSP is a continuing annual programme of cross-national collaboration on surveys covering topics important for social science research. It brings together pre-existing social science projects and coordinates research goals, thereby adding a cross-national, cross-cultural perspective to the individual national studies.
LIS - Cross-National Data Center in Luxemburg
LIS acquire, harmonise, and document microdata from countries around the globe, and make them publicly available in two databases, the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) and the Luxembourg Wealth Study (LWS). The databases, which are stored on secure servers, contain variables on income, employment, household characteristics, expenditures, and wealth. The databases are accessible to registered users via a remote-execution system known as LISSY and via the Web Tabulator, an online table maker.
CSES – Comparative Study of Electoral Systems
CSES is a collaborative program of research among election study teams from around the world. Participating countries include a common module of survey questions in their post-election studies. The resulting data are deposited along with voting, demographic, district and macro variables. The studies are then merged into a single, free, public dataset for use in comparative study and cross-level analysis.
The European Values Study is a large-scale, cross-national, and longitudinal survey research program on basic human values. It provides insights into the ideas, beliefs, preferences, attitudes, values and opinions of citizens all over Europe. It is a unique research project on how Europeans think about life, family, work, religion, politics and society.
World Values Survey
The World Values Survey (WVS) is a worldwide network of social scientists studying changing values and their impact on social and political life. The WVS in collaboration with EVS (European Values Study) carried out representative national surveys in more than 100 countries containing almost 90 percent of the world’s population. These surveys show pervasive changes in what people want out of life and what they believe. In order to monitor these changes, the EVS/WVS has executed six waves of surveys, from 1981 to 2013.

Public Opinion Analysis sector of the European Commission
Since 1973, the European Commission has been monitoring the evolution of public opinion in the Member States, thus helping the preparation of texts, decision-making and the evaluation of its work. Our surveys and studies address major topics concerning European citizenship: enlargement, social situation, health, culture, information technology, environment, the Euro, defence, etc. The site contains reports based on Eurobarometers (Standard, Special, Flash and Qualitative).
